Hello, dear reader, I hope you’re having a good day. I’ve been playing War of Crown, created by Asone Games and published by Gamevil, and enjoying it. I hope to cover it in a future video on Lunar Nebula LLC Gaming. I’m not being paid to write this blog, and it contains information based on my opinion after playing the game for over a week. I think the game’s age rating is appropriate (12+ on the App Store for infrequent/mild realistic violence and infrequent/mild cartoon or fantasy violence) because Gamevil doesn’t shy away from mild cursing or drawing attention to female characters.
Disclaimer: I’m not being paid by Gamevil, Asone, or anyone else to write this review. The only money I could make would be through advertising on this site or on YouTube (in a future video) at this point in time.
Since the game hasn’t been out long, and I haven’t been playing it enough to feel comfortable giving a full review, here are some tips and tricks I’ve discovered while playing the game.

Since the game hasn’t been out long, and I haven’t been playing it enough to feel comfortable giving a full review, here are some tips and tricks I’ve discovered while playing the game.
- Save up garnets for the 10+1 free summon- at the moment this is very easy because they are giving new players 300 garnets to do this. Evolving heroes and giving them better stats requires multiple versions of the same hero, and fully leveling 1 of the heroes. After evolving, the heroes level will go back to 1. It will also be harder to level up higher quality heroes. Skills also require using the same hero as payment to upgrade skills randomly. That free summon will become very important. Especially when you realize each hero has multiple elements as well. Be careful after summoning not to press any buttons in the bottom left corner. It will summon a new hero at the listed cost. It’s not a receipt.
- Leveling up heroes changes cost based on each hero’s stars- it’s 1000 gold/star/material used to level up heroes. So a 5 star hero costs 5000 gold per material used to level up. Keep in mind higher star heroes also require more XP to level up than lower starred counterparts. Gold is hard to get at first. Save up. It doesn’t seem like there’s any discount bonus or experience bonus when using multiple materials. Material order thus doesn’t appear to matter. When you finish adventure 3-5, you’ll unlock the Fairy Realm which allows farming for level up materials.
- Use the ‘nyangs’ to level up heroes- these cute creatures can be summoned for Friendship points at the FP Summon. They are easier to farm when you unlock the Fairy Realm after finishing the Elven Borders adventure. It costs Mandolins to enter the Fairy Realm. You must beat lower levels to unlock higher levels in the Fairy Realm. Quick tip, the first level is easy, the second level needs a proper elemental team, and the third level shouldn’t be run on auto-pilot even when your heroes are at level 20. The third level is possible if you have a decent team at level 20 or higher.
- Your summoner level doesn’t matter- it gives you access to more Mandolins (energy) for adventures. In the beginning of the game, this doesn’t matter because you can collect over your mandolin amount by leveling up. As I write this I have 140 mandolins out of 44. It also gives you greater access to Avon’s Song, the story mode, and the PVP arena. Therefore the level matters to me because I love stories, but it won’t give you a leg up on any stats in the arena.
- Login and quest rewards have an expiration date- there will be a time limit marked under the ‘Collect’ button in your Mail Delivery Service inbox found at the top right of the screen. If you don’t go to the Missions tab in the bottom left of the screen, you will not collect your daily quest rewards. Check it every day to gain precious gold.
- Before you enter the adventure zone level, check what conditions will net you garnets- there are 2 extra conditions underneath the adventure zone levels which, if met, will give you extra garnets for summoning. These conditions are simple to meet in the first zone, and you’ll want to level up your heroes a bit for the Elvens Border zones bonus missions.
- Adventure levels aren’t going to require your heroes to be the same level as the monsters you face- I got through the Elvens border with all of my heroes below level 20. Most of the enemies will be at level 26 toward the end of this zone.
- Battle estimations are often wrong- the battle forecast appears to only indicate what the pure stats would lead to in a battle. It does not seem to include elemental advantages, height advantage or disadvantage stats, or critical hit chance. Think of these battle estimations as simple estimations or guesses.
- Sometimes treasure chests appear in battle- you can hit these chests and gain garnets. You do have to destroy these chests to get any reward from it. If you leave it on the battlefield after destroying all monsters, you'll lose the reward.
- Leader skills only affect the highlighted elements- Eshirite’s leader skill will only give fire attribute heroes more physical attack. You can change your main hero through the ‘your heroes’ menu or by placing whichever hero you want as the leader to the far left in the battle prep screen. This system encourages you to create teams based on 1 or 2 elements. Light and dark teams have a slight elemental advantage over other teams. They will never have a disadvantage towards dealing damage. Light and dark teams are only countered by each other, and it’s a double edged sword. A light team will deal super effective damage to dark teams and normal damage to all other attributes. The drawback is dark teams can also deal super effective damage back to your light team. Fire, wind, and water teams have advantages and disadvantages to dealing damage. Fire will deal less damage to water attribute teams and super effective damage to wind attribute teams. This makes fire, wind and water teams less consistent damage dealers than light and dark teams.
- Pre-season arenas are fun and good practice- characters are automatically maxed out on stars and levels so you can try out different teams. Arenas teams are built by you and your opponent based off of a draft system similar to professional league of legends games. You take turns choosing units to bring. Turns in the arena last 30 seconds. Arena battles do take time. I’d approximate them being about 30 minutes long if neither combatant is willing to surrender. Keep your positioning in mind and seek the high ground. Some of your opponents will be on Auto-pilot. Outmaneuver them and you’ll win.
- Your equipment matters, later- It’s hard to find good equipment until you unlock the Wanted section Adventures after completing adventure 4-10. Your starting equipment is trash by the time you upgrade it to 4 stars. Switch to rare items as soon as possible. Rarer items have better stats, and, further in the game, you’ll get extra random bonus stats on higher-quality equipment. Eventually, you’ll run out of space in your inventory and will need 10 garnets to gain more slots. At the beginning of the game, you’ll often find better equipment handed to you. Equipping a new item will require you to destroy the currently equipped item. Or you could pay in crystals to unequip it first. Thankfully early game low-quality items don’t require any crystals to unequip. Be careful not to reflexively unequip!
- Some maneuvering stats explained-your heroes have a jump and action charge speed stats. Jump dictates how high the terrain your hero can jump to is. This means your hero may not require stairs and can jump to the top of a hill. Action charge speed dictates where in the action line up on the right side of the screen your hero will take their turn. The newest hero as I write this, Kalias, is very slow to act. He makes up for it with his power.
- The little hearts in the game represent friendship points- these points are gained by using your friend’s heroes during adventure zone battles. I’m unaware of other means to gain friend points. Friendship points can also be used for summoning ‘nyangs and to completely recharge your mandolins, the energy used for Adventure levels.
- Putting your mobile device to sleep will disconnect you from the server- thankfully, you can log back in and the game remembers where you were. You can pause in the middle of combat and return to this pause menu if you switch to a different app.
