Review:
Corporate Salmon is free-to-play with no quick way to gain coins. It’s hard jumping up the corporate ladder! There is a limited story told with quick cut-scenes between floors. I’m only on floor 7 so I don’t know if you move buildings once reaching the top of the first building. The music reminds me of upbeat elevator music combined with the old 8-bit tunes of retro video games. It’s catchy and somehow calming. The pixel art is fun and playful just like the game.
Time: You can play Corporate Salmon as much as you want! The power-ups and outfits may keep you in it for the long jump up the ladder.
Pros and Cons: Corporate Salmon has an ending in sight. Whether that’s truly the end is mostly up to you. There are plenty of unlockable outfits and it’s pure fun to jump around. Unfortunately, I did get tired of playing the game since I played it a lot. I’d suggest enjoying it for the simple joy of jumping every now and again. Corporate Salmon is well-crafted and does exactly what it says.
Overall Impression: If you love endless runners and free games with a fun and simple mechanic, Corporate Salmon is waiting for you to start your jump up the ladder! If you don’t enjoy repetitive games, then Corporate Salmon isn’t for you.
Tips:
- Look for the green and red lines – The game makes it obvious when your salmon has an approaching profit (green) or loss (red) line. Tapping the screen whenever your salmon touches one of these lines will cause an extra leap toward your corporate destiny! The red lines will take coins away from you, yet they will rocket you ahead of your competition.
- You can jump off other salmon and obstacles you’re touching – Whenever you touch a step, even the tiniest bit, you can jump from it. Same goes for your future competitors on later floors. The catch is your salmon will jump the wrong direction if you jump too close to a perpendicular surface of the step. For example, jumping off the tip of a step is fine. When starting sometimes your salmon will be resting vertically against the step and slowly slide down. Don’t jump when the salmon is vertical! Wait until it slides to a horizontal positions for a safe jump!
- You won’t jump if you continue to tap on the power-ups – Your Corporate Salmon requires the bottom-left button to activate power-ups, but tapping on the area again won’t do anything. This can lead to your downfall instead of the perfect jump you expected! Have another finger ready to press a different part of the screen.
