Hello, dear reader, I hope you’re having a good day. This article on the free-to-play iOS game (also on Android) Terra Battle 2 has a light review since the game is designed to be long. MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD. I’m not being paid to write this blog, and it contains information based on my opinions from playing Terra Battle 2 on iOS. Terra Battle 2 is rated 12+ on the App Store for Infrequent/Mild Horror/Fear Themes, Cartoon or Fantasy Violence, Profanity or Crude Humor, and Mild Alchohol, Tobacco, or Drug Use or References. Basically, it’s got some adult content in character back stories and some cursing.
Light Review:
Terra Battle 2 continues the combat experience of Terra Battle and throws in a new exploration phase for the story mode. The first few chapters take about 30 minutes or more to complete each. They include beautifully made cutscenes and events. If you ever need to replay a mission, the cutscenes won’t play, allowing you to progress much more rapidly. An example is chapter 2. I tried to collect every item on my first playthrough, watched every scene without button mashing, and tried to strategically keep my units in formation. I died to the boss after half an hour or so, took some time to level with the metal zone, started chapter 2 again, didn’t have to recollect the items or do cutscenes and got back to the boss before another 5 minutes passed. This was a nice touch. Though, I do wish there was an option for watching cutscenes in the menu after you’ve seen them. This game promises to take a lot of time, and I’m sure I’ll forget some important plot points before the end. Especially since any time new characters show up you have to exit back to your party screen to equip them. It really pulls you out of the story. To be honest the game feels clunky and too detailed to make a quick mobile experience. Like its predecessor, the artwork is gorgeous, the story mysterious, and the combat is fun. Unlike its predecessor, there are now more things to grind for and plan out. There are 8 slots with different types of gear and companions to keep track of, not including the various guardians you can equip. The elemental system is much more complicated than Terra Battle’s. This list of complaints continues with the loading times between combat and the story.
Pros: Good music, intriguing story, and excellent artwork all lead to a stunning presentation.
Cons: A clunky way to roam campaign missions, lots of loading screens, extra customization of character equipment (could be a pro if you enjoy that), and loss of characters/gameplay as you progress the story.
Overall impression: I would recommend Terra Battle 2 to players who enjoyed Terra Battle’s story and presentation, or anyone looking for a new gaming experience with a beautiful art style. The gameplay of Terra Battle 2 is slower than Terra Battle except for the event section. I enjoyed playing the Leviathan event more than the campaign. If you want slick gaming mechanics, less loading, and faster combat; play Terra Battle. Keep in mind, I haven’t played the original in about a year so things may have changed.

Tips:
- Your units will be thrown around after hitting a wall- Terra Battle 2 has a new story mode which enables free roaming the battle map. It can be troublesome to get used to so I recommend finding what zoom you’re most comfortable moving with. It is very easy to run into mountains, walls, and obstacles without realizing it. This can separate your units and leave one prone to ambush.
- Bosses must be encapsulated by your battlefield to fight- Bosses won’t show up in the fight if a part of them remains outside your zone of influence. Beware a counterattack if you miss!
- Use your friends as a boost- There are other players who’ve made significant progress in the game. You can benefit from their experience and skills. Check the info on a player’s character to find out if they have area of effect attacks. These are significantly helpful in the early game. You can even use them to grind for easy experience.
- Do the Metal Zone events between chapters to get more XP and use out of your stamina- Even normal mode Metal Zones are farmable with friend’s guardians. Make sure to click the info button to ensure they have an area of effect attack or good range on their skills. When in doubt just look at attack and magic stats of possible friends.
- Wait for 2x events and the like before summoning companions- You can save your energy for special summoning events. When you go to Fores, swipe up and down to see if there are any other summoning options.
- Pay close attention to your equipment- Your main weapon controls the range of your primary skill. Your secondary weapon only affects your stats in the beginning of the game. Other equipment contributes mostly to your stats. Companions can add specific bonuses like +2% fire damage.
- Guardians level at different rates- A carryover from Terra Battle, higher class/stronger guardians take longer to level up. They are worth it! One tactic I recommend is to level your party equally, wait for your higher class guardian to fall behind and then dedicate more XP to this lower level guardian. This way your party can still progress at a decent pace.
