Favorite Underrated Games
Zenforms: Protectors (rated 12 + for Frequent/Intense Cartoon or Fantasy Violence. I remember some profanity) and Decromancer (rated 12 + for Frequent/Intense Cartoon or Fantasy Violence. Also some profanity). Zenforms is like Pokemon with the unique twist of you choosing what your Zenforms will evolve into by growing their stats in a specific direction. It allows for more customization from a few starting evolutions. Decromancer was featured in an Extra Credits video about games you might not have tried. It’s like a turn-based, card collection, army management game.
Favorite Online Card game
Hearthstone is rated 12 + for Infrequent/Mild Cartoon or Fantasy Violence and many other things. Solforge would’ve been my favorite, but it’s unplayable on iPad at the moment. Hearthstone is relatively family friendly for an online card game, and it’s famous for many reasons. It’s well made. You don’t have to spend money to get cards, but, if you want to climb the ladder for free, you’ll need to spend a solid month of grinding just to get the materials needed to craft a high-tier deck in the current meta-game. This opinion comes from a pro player named Trump. You can find him on YouTube and I recommend him highly if you want to learn more about Hearthstone’s mechanics.
Favorite Multiplayer Game
Super Stickman Golf 3 (rated 4+), or, SSG3, is a fun golf-based game. There is a campaign and a multiplayer racing mode you can play wirelessly with friends. I’ve played it with my cousins and had a blast! You can unlock power-ups, costumes, and courses to play on.
Favorite Board Game
Ascension (rated 9+ for Infrequent/Mild Cartoon or Fantasy Violence and rated 9+ for Infrequent/Mild Horror/Fear Themes) is a deckbuilding card game. I’m a sucker for deck-building games and Ascension is one of the best I’ve played. It features unique art, expansions, and online multi-player. Frankly, I’ve always been happy playing against the AI and using Pass and Play because the game is just fun to experience without lag. I’m thinking the age rating could be bumped up a bit, yet it’s just my personal opinion.
Favorite Endless Runner:
MARVEL Spider-Man Unlimited (rated 12+ for Frequent/Intense Cartoon or Fantasy Violence) features everyone’s favorite web slinger running through various environments like Oscorp, giant robots, New York’s subways, the Mirror Dimension, and more. This is another free to play endless runner with lots of action and scene changes to keep you occupied. If you like collecting Spider-Man costumes and characters, you’ll delve deep into this game.
Favorite MMORPG:
Order and Chaos Online (rated 12+ for Frequent/Intense Cartoon or Fantasy Violence) is my favorite World of Warcraft style MMORPG on the iTunes store. An online chat function exists. There’s a world to explore and levels to grind. Frankly, I’m a bit tired of the genre so I’m not as well-researched on other mobile MMO’s. Please comment with other suggestions. Because there are plenty. There’s even a sequel to this one!
Favorite Puzzle game
Monument Valley is rated 4+. It’s gorgeous and was an Editor’s Choice for good reason. The game forces you to think spatially, and it’s really fun to look at. Kids and adults alike will enjoy Monument Valley. Monument Valley is well worth the price.
What are your favorite games, dear reader? I still don’t have a favorite racing game yet (unless SSG3’s multiplayer counts) so I’d appreciate some tips on a good one.
Disclaimer: I’m not being paid by anyone to mention these games. The only money I could make would be through advertising on this site or on YouTube at this point in time.
