Hello, dear reader, I hope you’re having a good day. This article on Legends of Callasia has a light review on the game since I have not beaten it. I have played much of the free content and recently began the paid content. I’m not being paid to write this blog, and it contains information based on my opinions from playing Legends of Callasia on iOS. Legends of Callasia is rated 9+ on the App Store for Infrequent/Mild Cartoon or Fantasy Violence, Infrequent/Mild Profanity or Crude Humor, and Infrequent/Mild Horror/Fear themes. It’s pretty clean with mild battle effects, undead and monster portraits, and some mild cursing.
Light Review: Legends of Callasia is a strategy game like Risk except all players take turns simultaneously (kind of). It requires timing, strategy, and determination. Legends of Callasia offers initial content for free. You can pay $15 to unlock all the campaign missions, heroes, and multiplayer maps. There are no advertisements between levels or after games. Most games take around 40 minutes to play through, or a minute per turn. The game saves after each turn so you can put down the iPad if you need to. Legends of Callasia is also available on Steam for the same price.
Tips:
I hope these 5 tips help you out, dear reader! Time to unite Callasia under your banner!

Tips:
- Hire heroes and expand quickly- Legends of Callasia gives you up to four heroes to control your armies with. You must have a hero to move an army, occupy territories, and to build anything. Having your heroes on the field first is a huge advantage, especially if you’re playing a set amount of turns for a victory point win.
- Hire troops before heroes, if possible- When you hire heroes they come with a set army. If you hire up to your population cap then hire a hero, you can go beyond your population cap and bolster your forces. It’s a nifty trick if you have the gold. The only problem is you can’t reinforce your existing armies until your population goes back into the black.
- Build towers at chokepoints or as staging points for attacks- Towers are your best defenses and greatest weapon at the same time. Legends of Callasia’s towers are upgraded separately from your city. You can unlock elite troops at a citadel before your city even has a market. Elite troops are worth it! More importantly, you can create choke points into your territories by placing towers at sea lanes or mountain passes. This makes it far easier to defend your lands. If you occupy a land next to an opponent’s city you can build a tower, bring another hero, reinforce your army, and then jump to the city with a fresh army. Just be careful since the opponent can continuously buy troops inside their city even with no heroes present.
- Disbanding troops will not replace your hiring costs unless you just hired them- This is important if you reinforce a tower away from your supply lines. Disbanding those troops won’t return your gold. It may be necessary to disband them due to the population cap so you can reinforce your other armies. Note you can’t hire troops at towers or cities when those structures are attacked, but you can hire troops before your heroes move. Tower defense bonuses won’t apply to your heroes, but heroes can take the ‘defend’ action, and it does significantly affect your survival.
- Cards activate before anyone moves- Playing the card “Charge” can get you in trouble. It’s better to play it on a hero who is about to join an existing battle because it’s highly probable the enemy will still be there. Otherwise, you have to guess the foe’s trajectory to neighboring territories. This also means attacks like Smite will affect armies before battle is joined.
