Hello, dear reader, I hope you’re having a good day. I’m not being paid to write this blog, and it contains information based on my opinions from playing Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia on iOS. Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia is online so you will need an internet connection to play. It’s free-to-play with in-app purchases for crystals. With the various freebies given during the release, you won’t need to buy anything to quickly progress. Reaching the highest levels of power will tempt you to open your wallet. Final Fantasy Opera Omnia is rated 9+ on the App Store for Infrequent/Mild Cartoon or Fantasy Violence. If you and your children can handle modern cartoons, old school final fantasy game violence, or Bravely Default; then this game is fine. It contains PG levels of violence with some discussions about death, gods, and monster invasions.
Review:
Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia is a free-to-play Final Fantasy story campaign with fighting mechanics from the Dissidia franchise (I haven’t played any Dissidia games so I can’t vouch for how close it is to them). It’s available on iOS and Android. The combat is based on timing and setting up the best attack you can. The music is a heaping helping of nostalgia, catchiness, and everything you expect from a Final Fantasy game. The animation is slick in combat, with fun close-ups punctuated by Japanese battle cries and catch phrases. The combat is fast-paced, there’s an actual story, some voice acting, and tons of freebies for new players. The story quests aren’t blocked by an energy meter which is even better! Plus, you’ll see your favorite Final Fantasy characters team up to close the Torsions!
Time: You can play Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia as much as you want in Quest Mode. The Events Map and the Illusion World do have limits on the number of levels you can finish each day. Cycle Quests have a max of 10 visits. Plan on at least a few minutes each day if you want your daily rewards. Keep in mind you can Auto-battle through many missions. I've spent hours going through the story and cut-scenes. It's probably taken me six hours to reach chapter 5 because I'm not skipping anything.
Pros and Cons: Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia has an ending in sight. For the story. The press kit makes it sound like there’s probably no end to PVP. You get cartoony designs of your favorite Final Fantasy characters in a fan-fiction setting which enables the team-ups of your JRPG (Japanese Role Playing Game) dreams while the music spurs you onward to your fate!
Overall Impression: If you love JRPG’s, turn-based strategy or fighting games, and free Final Fantasy spin-offs; then Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia is waiting for you to find the Warriors of Light! If you don’t enjoy JRPG’s, or strategy games, then Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia isn’t for you.

Tips:
- Look for the purple lining on your attacks – The game makes it obvious when your characters can KO an opponent. This is good because it’s really hard to gauge how close an enemy is to dying when their health goes red. Attacks which deal lethal HP damage will have a purple glow. When to activate your HP damage attacks is another can of worms. Also, chain attacks will slightly increase the HP and Bravery attack damage dealt.
- “Clear without taking any breaks” is difficult, not impossible – Whenever you use an HP damage attack you lose all your bravery. Think of bravery as your second HP bar which also counts as your ammunition. Pay attention to enemy forecasts of your tiny character profile so you don’t get broken after you attack. Enemies will also show a letter when they self-target or team target. If every foe is targeting Squall, waste his turn or build up bravery. Let the other teammates crank out the HP damage. Remember breaking your opponents’ bravery will give all team extra Bravery. You can thus time attacks to break opponents’ bravery after you deal an HP damage attack to cover your team. You can also use your summon to net you more time to build bravery or deal damage. Casting your summon gives all your heroes an extra action before you return to the scheduled turn timer (actually four actions total not including a chain attack). Another trick is to use a character’s special to regain Bravery quickly (if they perform a Bravery attack as a special).
- Ranking up gets you… – More friends! Power gains friends, duh. It expands the limit of people you can call for help through summoning and gives you more SP for tackling the Illusion World. You can always scroll to the bottom of the list to select no friends if you want to be left alone and not use up a friend for a wimpy fight. The Illusion World levels let you grind for summon enhancements and contains high difficulty missions. Note, ranking up refills SP as well. The fastest way to rank up is generally leveling your weakest characters. I like letting new characters reach level 5 (this is also helpful for opening gates in the story quests. Always do cut-scenes as soon as they appear). It appears the game wants you to follow a collector’s ideal and rewards you for encouraging the weaklings to keep up. You’ll want to focus leveling at least one character (preferably Squall or another damage dealer) who can wield a five-star weapon.
- Don’t use Support Items when you first find them – The Book of Training at least appears to be best used for the Cycle Quest on 2 x EXP characters for insane experience amounts. Keep in mind cut-scenes do take away time from your support items. Their timers are in real-time after all. My tears of lost efficiency will water you with knowledge.
- Quest levels are more like guidelines – The game gives you a ton of gems right now. This means characters can be overpowered for their levels. I was able to complete the level 30 Cycle Quest around level 23 for Cloud, Tifa, and Zidane. Trying the level 40 Cycle Quest at 30 is a bad idea without incredible equipment and enhancements.
