Hello, dear reader, I hope you’re having a good day. I’m not being paid to write this blog, and it contains information based on my opinions from playing Angry Birds Match on iOS. Angry Birds Match is rated 12+ on the App Store due to Frequent/Intense Horror/Fear Themes (the Halloween Costumes? I’m not seeing it myself…) and Infrequent/Mild Cartoon or Fantasy Violence.
Review:
Angry Birds Match is a free-to-play online matching game for iOS and Android. The game does have in-app purchases, but it’s mostly cosmetic changes with some one-time power-ups thrown in for good measure. Angry Birds Match is a game for killing time and puzzling out the best moves to accomplish the level’s objectives. You’ll want to summon your angriest birds to have a chance at victory in later levels.
Time: It takes a level anywhere from 2 to 20 minutes to complete. Event levels are quite difficult and may require multiple attempts to get the right combinations and random drops to finish. Also, if you lose an event level you may need to restart from square one to unlock the Royal Chest. The first campaign levels are simple and teach you the mechanics of the game.
Pros and Cons: The music is upbeat and fun. The cartoonish sound effects continue the Angry Bids’ tradition. The graphics illustrate bird movements well, yet could use some work in showing you what your current match placement is for normal tiles. The controls could be a bit nicer to new players. I’ve launched a few birds in the wrong direction. I understood Red’s frustration at missing the pigs. Just keep your finger down until you know what you’re doing. Kind of like keeping your hand on a chess piece until you know where you’ll place it. The levels have a variety of obstacles to stump your strategies. Thankfully, a possible match will wiggle around to alert new players. This doesn’t mean all available matches will wiggle. It may disappoint you to learn Angry Birds Match does have an energy system. Every time you lose a game your hearts drop by 1. This puts a soft timer on the game for parents who want to limit kids’ play time on video games since you can keep playing until you lose five times. This also puts a timer on parents playing their children’s game. However, if you get the unlimited lives power-up, you’ll have an uninterrupted hour to play as much as you want regardless of losses. Angry Birds Match will only recognize one movement at a time. You won’t swap multiple pieces in one move. Advertisements aren’t overwhelming. You can watch ads to unlock Basic Chests for gems and one-use power-ups. After watching one ad, you’ll have to wait 8 hours or pay 500 gold you’ve earned from playing the game to open more Basic Chests. In-app payments for premium chests will release new outfits for your hatchlings. These outfits grant you more gold when you win. Outfits are like long-term investments.
Overall Impression: If you love Candy Crush and other matching games I think you’ll love Angry Birds Match. I would recommend Angry Birds Match to gamers who these endless matches, or online free-to-play games which can take up your time for a few minutes to hours. fast reactions and level memorization. I don’t recommend the game to anyone looking for more than a fun race or who can’t stand ads. Who isn’t content with a good race though?

Tips:
- Don’t unlock premium chests unless you’ve bought every outfit currently available- It appears the premium chest will unlock any outfit you currently lack. Meaning you can save your gold in game by opening a premium chest early, or you can use your gold to buy the three outfits each hatchling has and then open a chest for an outfit which can only be found from a chest! That’s how it appears to work based on my experience with Vincent. Oh, Vincent. At least you make the outfit look good.
- Outfits give you money- As previously mentioned, outfits give you at least +1 gold per level. Even if your hatchling isn’t wearing it.
- Pigs are tricky – Pigs will move. Thankfully you can stun them by matching right next to them to stop their movement. However, some pigs have armor or use special terrain to protect themselves from losing consciousness.
- Always create birds- You will often be saved from a crushing defeat thanks to a randomly useful bird chain you create on accident. Birds will appear at the match point and will drop into any empty space created.
- Launch birds into each other- Keep in mind Red is most useful when you chain his moves to another bird. Activate Red and he’ll move at a right angle to the activator’s path, in two opposing directions! When you launch Red personally, he only moves in one direction. The same is true for Bomb.
